It was brought to my attention that I am way behind on responding to my commentors.
I know. I feel horrible about it. {hold me}
There are so many new wonderful people that are stopping by to say hi! and that say such wonderful things.
And I fully intend to actually respond to everyone in the comment section, but I work full time and have two little boys and I volunteer and have posts to keep up on and birthdays to plan and a husband to "entertain" and boys to spank and homeless people to feed and bills to pay and a house to clean and meals to make and stray animals to rescue and lord I could go on. {catching my breath here}.
{Fine. Everyone that knows me knows that is mostly BS. The only thing on that list that I do is spank my children.}
But everytime I get a new commentor, I hurry over to their blog and usually laugh my tail off for a while and I try to comment on their blogs.
But that isn't satisfying my blogless sister, who wants more validation. A bigger piece of me. {yeah, Josh wants a bigger piece of me too and ask him how long he's been waitin'...}
Anywho, I wanted to sort of get a feel for the atmosphere out there, and how you actually like to be acknowledged after you comment.
Because trust me, I LOVE that you are all here.
And I want to be a fantastic host.
So let's get to the voting...

22 awesome people had somethin' to say...:
This is hilarious! But I wouldn't worry about it!
I'm a comment whore, I admit it. If I find a new blog I actually like I'll go there and leave a few comments and if a week or so passes and they never come to my blog and comment... away I go, never to return. :P
Yes, that was a threat. Oh and yea, I'm a new reader here. ;) Er, what? I mean...I like ice cream.
Yeah, what Tali said :-) I love comments. But, if you notice the comments on my blog...it might say there are 26 comments...but I am sure that 10-13 of them are actually me. Cause I have nothing better to do than wait for comments and instantly respond. I need a hobby. Wait...I blog. That is a hobby. Perhaps meds are the answer.
I have to tell you...when I opened your blog it said " THE LESBIAN TEST" in your ad under your header! I about died! LOL....Captain Pork Chops, The Lesbian Test. LMFAO..god I'm tired. I like ice cream.
I prefer to be acknowledged in the comments with "I love you, Backpacking Dad, and you're the funniest commenter who leaves comments of all the commenters."
When someone is visiting my blog for the first time I try to comment back to them at least a couple times...then once I know they're hooked I let them wait a bit before I work my way back to their blog again...shoot, they're not goin' anywhere. If they're a personal fave. I might show up more often. But it's like you said! It's hard to get to everyone AND do other stuff too. Just do what you can.
ps If you can't comment back to me it's cool...I like spankings too.
Did I just make things weird?? Sorry bout that.
It gets overwhelming sometimes. I took a couple days to read a book I'd desperately been waiting for and when I sat back on the computer it seemed like work to get caught up. Grrr...
I am a new reader to your blog...and it's great. As far as acknowlegement for my comment is concerned - ice cream is never a bad thing. :)
I voted for I like ice cream, but thought you might appreciate something more helpful. I'm a newer reader to your blog, I subscribed because I like the content, not because I expect tit for tat.
I usually comment back right on my blog, makes it more like a conversation and others get in on the action then, well sometimes.
There are plenty of blogs that I visit that don't comment back on the post or acknowledge that anyone visits. I go back because I love the blog content. It can't be all about the give and take of comments.
Some of the blogs I visit email you directly after you comment, nice, but I can't help but think it would generate more interaction on their blog if they responded there. I know people don't always come back and check on comments though.
I don't comment on every post I read, if I did, I wouldn't have a life. I usually only comment on ones that I can constructively contribute to, or if I really love a post or picture. I won't comment to say "oh, it's ok" type thing. I do have a few friends that I comment on just about every post, regardless of the content, but it has nothing to do with comment exchange, it's more about taking part in each others lives, if that makes sense.
The only time a lack of acknowledgement is frustrating, is when a question has been asked. In that case either respond in comments, or via email, or somehow. Even some of the "bigger" bloggers could make an effort to at least let people know their comments are being read. 1 comment for every 10, 20 or 50 if necessary, that or turn comments off like Dooce, if you really can't handle the volume.
Don't you just love all my run on sentences and miscellaneous psychobabble?
I would love if you stopped by my page and commented evey now and again.....just sayin' ;)
I just love to read your blog... now that I've found you! And I'm so glad that none of that stuff was true - except spanking your children. Cuz I work full-time too and I NEVER cook. I was starting to feel bad...
And BTW, no, my husband never eats cake :)
Holy crap!
First, cheers to you all for making pee in my pants and snort coffee out of my nose at the same time. Yay!
I have the best commentors, ever!
Second: BPDad, meet Mama's Losin' It. Kathy, meet BPDad.
He needs love and she likes to be spanked. You should get along swimmingly! But, ya know, still come back here...
:)
I want that Lesbian Test back. Where can I find it. Because that is side splitting! "The Captain Pork Chops Lesbian Test"? Post worthy! Maybe I'll come up with some of my own questions....
Stephanie: I'm so glad your husband never eats cake. He can now be eradicated from my dirty thoughts list. Too bad- he was almost perfect! :) (If you haven't checked out Stephanie's husband yet and your self-esteem is too high, head on over. Seriously.)
You know, I'm in the same boat. While I would love to acknowledge every person who leaves a comment I just can't do it all the time. I sometimes try to do the old one comment with a list of people who've already commented but then I feel guilty if I don't go back and hit the one's who come along after I've done that.
I've decided that the best I can do is respond to the ones that seem to be asking me something or fishing for a response on the actual post but other than that just adding them to my blog roll and paying it forward on theirs.
So, Captain Pork Chop, we finally meet. I've seen you hanging around with the popular girls.
Interesting place you've got here and although I consider you a worthy opponent I say we combine forces, grab the world by the balls, and then blog about it together ;)
Carrie- I just laughed OUT LOUD!
And no way am I worthy! You are fantastic and I am completely intimidated!
But I don't like balls much. I mean I do! Not taking the lesbian test or anything, but it's just that they are just all squishy and wrinkly and better left alone....
...but I'm all for blogging about it!
HA!
can't believe you just went and described balls.
I'll have mint chocolate chip please.
And totally dead over the balls convo. Hilarious.
I like ice cream.
Can't...decide...which...button...to...click.
You just can't give a four-month post-partum mommy options like ice cream. It sends us into a confused cloud of hormones and cravings.
I'm going to go lick and ice cube and imagine now.
Oh holy hell! I just choked on, well, my spit. You perfectly described balls, and seriously, who really likes balls, except for the self-indulgent owners of said wrinkly things???????
My husband will die waiting for a bigger piece of me too, which is sad, in a way, because seriously, when did i get so uninterested in sex? I mean, really?
Oh wait-that's not what we were talking about? Oh. My. Well, he would like more of whatever you were talking about then, im sure. He's deprived.
This is so funny. I stress about getting back to people too and respond to all my comments, but I really don't think people go back and check to see what I have said to them like I do on other people's blogs. I think passing on the comment love by visiting their site is what most people want most. Could be wrong though. :)
Thanks for allowing me to validate my love of ice cream!
:-)
