Flashback Friday

I've intended to do a "Flashback Friday" every Friday, where I post pictures from my past. I posted one, and then my laziness won. (Trucking down to my basement to scan old pictures was apparently too taxing on my weathered pampered little body. So, I just haven't done it. )

Tonight I was revved up. To the basement I was going to go. I have big plans for some pretty cool pics of me in the Army. I promise, those pictures will come. Maybe next week. (If you really want to see them, make me feel guilty and harass me about posting them...)

Tonight you are only going to get this picture:

This is a picture of my husband and I right after he proposed [cough] the first time.

Now, looking back, I love how he is in a Marine logo-ed t-shirt and that he is smirking while he's kissing me. I love that I am smiling too. And that he has his hand on the side of my face, and he tipped his ball cap up first. I love that after he proposed, we went to a seafood restaurant that throws paper on the table, has live bands on the weekends, and an amazing view of sailboats in the bay. And I don't eat seafood.

Now, looking back, I love that he proposed on my birthday because he was just trying to make my day special. I love that he placed my ring in a jewelry box and wrapped it in the prettiest paper. I still have what's left of that paper on the roll, and have been unable to ever use it for anything else.

This picture reminds me of all of that. I have it in a crappy cheap-o frame on my nightstand.

My sister lived with us when this was taken. Her (short lived) boyfriend from back then took this picture and later sent Josh and I one copy. Just one. A 4x6.

It is absolutely one of my favorite pricesless pictures of all time, and I have no way to make it a 20x34 and plaster it in my house.

The other night I was playing with my camera and took pictures of the picture in the frame.

I should really focus on preserving this image better...

5 awesome people had somethin' to say...:

Oh my gosh! Absolutely!

One of my favorite things about blog hopping is "getting to know" people through their pictures. To see people as kids and awkward teenagers. It's so fun!!

I get so frustrated when I find a blog writer that I love and I can't find ANY pictures of them to get an idea of what they look like.... is that weird?!

Such a sweet picture. And the fact that it's the only one makes it even more precious. God, you have the best hair.

Okay. I shouldn't be saying this, but for the sake of authenticity I will.

Thank god this picture is not in color.

When this picture was taken (February 15th, 2003), I was in the midst of a... "Finding My Hair?" crisis.

What you can't see was that the bottom half of my hair was fire engine, unnatural on purpose, red. And the top was streak-y blond highlighted.

Shutup. Ithoughtitwastrendy!

Soon after this, I found Katie, my amazing hair dresser, and the world has been right since.

Oh honey, you can take this picture to Walmart and make copies. It destroys that "authentic" thing, but at least you'll have backup.
